The sea is your best friend – says the Swedish actor, director and artist Lasse Åberg , the author of the children’s book of the same name. Its exclusive Croatian edition will be presented in Split at the 10th international festival Taste the Mediterranean – in Kazalište lutaka (The Doll’s Theatre) with the kids in the audience. This multi-talented artist, who produced some of the most successful Swedish films, and as a director dealt with the theme of life at sea, in this illustrated book leads young readers into the unknown world of the depths.
“The sea is your best friend” shows why seas and oceans are crucial for life on Earth. With subtle images and simple language, Lasse Åberg explains to children – and adults – that everything, from the smallest fish to the largest whale, is connected in a perfect ecosystem whose balance must not be disturbed. And man disturbs it, among other things, if he does not sort the waste – because everything that is not recycled ends up in the soil, in the rivers and, finally, in the seas and oceans.
The sea is man’s best friend, Åberg repeats, and you have to be good to your best friend.
