The Moroccan chef Issam Rhachi, a longtime friend of the Festival Taste the Mediterranean, has sent us a touching message saying that, unfortunately, he will not be able to come to this year’s festival due to the devastating earthquake that hit his country.

“Taste the Mediterranean is close to my heart, but at this moment I cannot leave my traumatized children, nor the people around me who are suffering terribly. My presence and the help I can provide are in the first place” Issam told us.

For days we were worried about him and chef Yassine Khalal, who was also a guest of the Festival a few years ago, because they both live and work in Marrakech. Fortunately, they reported that they and their families are fine, but that the situation is dramatic. Both are engaged in helping their compatriots.

On behalf of the Festival and all of us personally, we would like to express our deep solidarity and support to them and the entire Moroccan people in these tragic moments.
