Dr Darko Znaor
Dr Darko Znaor is the first European with an MSc. degree in organic farming, which he received from Wageningen Agricultural University (the Netherlands) in 1992. His PhD. research obtained from the University of Essex (UK) in 2008, dealt with the assessment of the environmental and economic consequences of large-scale conversion to organic farming – based on a true costs accounting.
He is an experienced international expert with >100 research, development, evaluation and policy analysis projects in 30 European and Asian countries. Darko has been team leader and/or consultant for the World Bank, OECD, UN agencies UN agencies (FAO, UNECE, UNDP and UNEP), European Commission; British, Dutch, Belgian and Italian universities; several Governments, etc.
He was a long-standing visiting lecturer at the MSc. programme in organic farming at Wageningen University in the Netherlands – the best agricultural University in the World according to the QS World University Rankings 2019. He was born in a Croatian-Italian family admiring Mediterranean food.
