Chef Hrvoje Zirojević
Hrvoje Zirojević, the Gault&Millau Croatia Chef of the Year 2019 was born in Split. His mother and grandmother “infected” him with cooking from an early age. Today, he is one of the most respected Croatian chefs. To the great delight of his followers from the beginning of this year he has become the chef of the restaurant Dvor, in Split, which is constantly full since his arrival. Before that, Zirojević was the chef and manager of the Laganini restaurant in Palmižana, to which he provided 4 toques by Gault & Millau, but for many this island destination was inaccessible.
Apart from delighting the guests with his culinary masterpieces, Zirojević is known among his colleagues for his willingness to always help everyone. He is a lecturer at the gastronomy study at Aspira High School in Split, and gives guest lectures at the Faculty of Management in Tourism and Hospitality in Opatija, where he passes on his rich knowledge and experience to young generations. He is doing the same at restaurant Dvor where he brought his experience from ten years of Laganini Despite the summer crowds and hustle and bustle, he successfully runs the kitchen and manages the kitchen team.
In addition to the Gault & Millau Chef trophy of the year 2019, he has won many culinary awards in Croatia and abroad. Among other things, he won the Cro Top 10 – the culinary competition of the best Croatian chefs and is the first Croatian chef to win a silver medal at the World Cup in Moscow.
